(Good and evil)

(Eze18:4)Behold, all the souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.

(Eze18:5)And if a man be righteous, and do judgment and justice:

(Eze18:6)-- he hath not eaten upon the mountains, nor lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, neither hath defiled his neighbour's wife, nor come near to a woman in her separation,

(Eze18:7)and hath not oppressed any; he hath restored to the debtor his pledge, hath not exercised robbery, hath given his bread to the hungry, and covered the naked with a garment;

(Eze18:8)he hath not given forth upon usury, nor taken increase; he hath withdrawn his hand from unrighteousness, hath executed true judgment between man and man,

(Eze18:9)hath walked in my statutes, and kept mine ordinances, to deal faithfully: he is righteous, he shall certainly live, saith the Lord Jehovah.

(Eze18:10)And if he have begotten a son that is violent, a shedder of blood, and that doeth only one of any of these [things],

(Eze18:11)and that doeth not any of those [duties], but also hath eaten upon the mountains, and defiled his neighbour's wife,

(Eze18:12)hath oppressed the poor and needy, exercised robbery, hath not restored the pledge, and hath lifted up his eyes to the idols, committed abomination,

(Eze18:13)given forth upon usury, and taken increase; shall he then live? He shall not live: he hath done all these abominations; he shall certainly die; his blood shall be upon him.

(Eze18:14)But lo, if he have begotten a son that seeth all his father's sins which he hath done, and considereth, and doeth not such like:

(Eze18:15)-- he hath not eaten upon the mountains, nor lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel; he hath not defiled his neighbour's wife,

(Eze18:16)and hath not oppressed any, nor withholden the pledge, neither hath exercised robbery; he hath given his bread to the hungry, and covered the naked with a garment;

(Eze18:17)he hath withdrawn his hand from the poor, hath not received usury nor increase, hath executed my judgments, [and] walked in my statutes: he shall not die for the iniquity of his father, he shall certainly live.

(Eze18:18)As for his father, because he practised oppression, exercised robbery upon his brother, and did what was not good among his people, behold, he shall die in his iniquity.

(Luk6:43)For there is no good tree which produces corrupt fruit, nor a corrupt tree which produces good fruit;

(Luk6:44)for every tree is known by its own fruit, for figs are not gathered from thorns, nor grapes vintaged from a bramble.

(Luk6:45)The good man, out of the good treasure of his heart, brings forth good; and the wicked [man] out of the wicked, brings forth what is wicked: for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

(Gal6:10)So then, as we have occasion, let us do good towards all, and specially towards those of the household of faith.

(Mic6:8)He hath shewn thee, O man, what is good: and what doth Jehovah require of thee, but to do justly, and to love goodness, and to walk humbly with thy God?

(Sin)

[KJV]  (1jo3:4)Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

[BBE]  (1jo3:4)Everyone who is a sinner goes against the law, for sin is going against the law.

[NLT]  (1jo3:4)Those who sin are opposed to the law of God, for all sin opposes the law of God.

[NIV]  (1jo3:4)Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness.

[ASV]  (1jo3:4)Every one that doeth sin doeth also lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness.

[RSV]  (1jo3:4)Every one who commits sin is guilty of lawlessness; sin is lawlessness.

[DBY]  (1jo3:4)Every one that practises sin practises also lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness.

[DOUAY]  (1jo3:4)Whosoever committeth sin committeth also iniquity. And sin is iniquity.

(Lev6:1)And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,

(Lev6:2)If any one sin and act unfaithfully against Jehovah, and lie to his neighbour as to an entrusted thing or a deposit or [that in which] he hath robbed or wronged his neighbour,

(Lev6:3)or have found what was lost, and denieth it, and sweareth falsely in anything of all that man doeth, sinning therein;

(Lev6:4)then it shall be, if he hath sinned and transgressed, that he shall restore what he robbed or that in which he hath defrauded, or the deposit, or the lost thing which he found,

(Lev6:5)or all that about which he hath sworn falsely; and he shall restore it in the principal, and shall add the fifth part more thereto; to [him to] whom it belongeth shall he give it, on the day of his trespass-offering.

(Lev6:6)And his trespass-offering shall he bring to Jehovah, a ram without blemish out of the small cattle according to thy valuation, as a trespass-offering, unto the priest.

(Lev6:7)And the priest shall make atonement for him before Jehovah, and it shall be forgiven him concerning anything of all that he hath done so as to trespass therein.

(1jo5:17)Every unrighteousness is sin; and there is a sin not to death.

(Jer16:10)And it shall come to pass, when thou shalt declare unto this people all these words, and they shall say unto thee, Wherefore hath Jehovah pronounced all this great evil against us? and what is our iniquity? and what is our sin which we have committed against Jehovah our God?

(Jer16:11)then shalt thou say unto them, Because your fathers have forsaken me, saith Jehovah, and have walked after other gods, and have served them, and have worshipped them, and have forsaken me, and have not kept my law;

(Dan9:10)and we have not hearkened unto the voice of Jehovah our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us through his servants the prophets.

(Dan9:11)And all Israel have transgressed thy law, even turning aside so as not to listen unto thy voice. And the curse hath been poured out upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God: for we have sinned against him.

(Lev7:15)And the flesh of the sacrifice of his peace-offering of thanksgiving shall be eaten the same day that it is presented; he shall not let any of it remain until the morning.

(Lev7:16)And if the sacrifice of his offering be a vow, or voluntary, it shall be eaten the same day that he presented his sacrifice; on the morrow also the remainder of it shall be eaten;

(Lev7:17)and the remainder of the flesh of the sacrifice on the third day shall be burned with fire.

(Lev7:18)And if [any] of the flesh of the sacrifice of his peace-offering be eaten at all on the third day, it shall not be accepted, it shall not be reckoned to him that hath presented it; it shall be an unclean thing, and the soul that eateth of it shall bear his iniquity.

(Lev19:5)And if ye sacrifice a sacrifice of peace-offering to Jehovah, ye shall sacrifice it for your acceptance.

(Lev19:6)On the day when ye sacrifice it shall it be eaten, and on the morrow; and that which remaineth until the third day shall be burned with fire.

(Lev19:7)And if it be eaten at all on the third day, it is an unclean thing: it shall not be accepted.

(Lev19:8)And he that eateth it shall bear his iniquity; for he hath profaned the hallowed thing of Jehovah; and that soul shall be cut off from among his peoples.

(Lev17:15)And every soul that eateth of a dead carcase, or of that which was torn, be it one home-born, or a stranger, he shall wash his clothes, and bathe in water, and be unclean until the even: then he shall be clean.

(Lev17:16)And if he wash them not nor bathe his flesh, then he shall bear his iniquity.

(Lev22:8)Of a dead carcase and what is torn shall he not eat, to make himself unclean therewith: I am Jehovah.

(Lev22:9)And they shall keep my charge, lest they bear sin for it, and die by it, if they profane it: I am Jehovah who do hallow them.

(Lev22:15)And they shall not profane the holy things of the children of Israel which they offer unto Jehovah,

(Lev22:16)and cause them to bear the iniquity of trespass when they eat their holy things; for I am Jehovah who do hallow them.

(Lev26:1)Ye shall make yourselves no idols, neither rear you up for yourselves carved image, or statue, nor shall ye set up a figured stone in your land, to bow down unto it; for I am Jehovah your God.

(Lev26:2)Ye shall observe my sabbaths, and my sanctuary shall ye reverence: I am Jehovah.

(Lev26:3)If ye walk in my statutes, and observe my commandments and do them,

(Lev26:4)then I will give your rain in the season thereof, and the land shall yield its produce, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit;

(Lev26:5)and your threshing shall reach unto the vintage, and the vintage shall reach unto the sowing-time; and ye shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land securely.

(Lev26:6)And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid; and I will put away the evil beasts out of the land; and the sword shall not go through your land.

(Lev26:7)And ye shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword;

(Lev26:8)and five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight; and your enemies shall fall beside you by the sword.

(Lev26:9)And I will turn my face towards you and make you fruitful, and multiply you, and establish my covenant with you.

(Lev26:10)And ye shall eat old store, and clear away the old because of the new.

(Lev26:11)And I will set my habitation among you; and my soul shall not abhor you;

(Lev26:12)and I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be to me a people.

(Lev26:13)I am Jehovah your God, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their bondmen; and I have broken the bands of your yoke, and made you walk upright.

(Lev26:14)But if ye hearken not unto me, and do not all these commandments,

(Lev26:15)and if ye shall despise my statutes, and if your soul shall abhor mine ordinances, so that ye do not all my commandments, that ye break my covenant,

(Lev26:16)I also will do this unto you -- I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and fever, which shall cause the eyes to fail, and the soul to waste away; and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.

(Lev26:17)And I will set my face against you, that ye may be routed before your enemies; they that hate you shall have dominion over you; and ye shall flee when none pursueth you.

(Lev26:18)And if for this ye hearken not unto me, I will punish you sevenfold more for your sins,

(Lev26:19)and I will break the arrogance of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as bronze,

(Lev26:20)and your strength shall be spent in vain, and your land shall not yield its produce; and the trees of the land shall not yield their fruit.

(Lev26:39)And they that remain of you shall waste away through their iniquity in your enemies' lands; and also through the iniquities of their fathers shall they waste away with them.

(Lev26:40)And they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, through their unfaithfulness wherein they were unfaithful to me, and also that they have walked contrary unto me,

(Lev26:41)so that I also walked contrary unto them, and brought them into the land of their enemies. If then their uncircumcised heart be humbled, and they then accept the punishment of their iniquity,

(Lev26:42)I will remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land.

(Lev26:43)For the land shall be left by them, and shall enjoy its sabbaths, when it is in desolation without them; and they shall accept the punishment of their iniquity; because, even because they despised my judgments, and their soul abhorred my statutes.

(Lev26:44)And yet for all that, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not despise them, and will not abhor them, to make an end of them utterly, to break my covenant with them, for I am Jehovah their God.

(Lev26:45)But I will remember toward them the covenant with their ancestors whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt before the eyes of the nations, that I might be their God: I am Jehovah.

(Lev26:46)These are the statutes and ordinances and laws which Jehovah made between him and the children of Israel in mount Sinai, by the hand of Moses.

(Sin and punishment)

(Lam3:39)Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?

(Eze33:18)When the righteous turneth from his righteousness, and doeth what is wrong, then he shall die therein.

(Eze33:19)And when the wicked turneth from his wickedness, and doeth judgment and justice, he shall live for these things.

(Eze33:20)Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. O house of Israel, I will judge you every one after his ways.

(Eze14:13)Son of man, when a land sinneth against me by working unfaithfulness, and I stretch out my hand upon it, and break the staff of the bread thereof, and send famine upon it, and cut off man and beast from it;

(Eze14:14)though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, should be in it, they should deliver [but] their own souls by their righteousness, saith the Lord Jehovah.

(Eze14:15)If I cause evil beasts to pass through the land, and they bereave it, and it become a desolation, so that no one passeth through because of the beasts;

(Eze14:16)-- though these three men should be in it, [as] I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, they should deliver neither sons nor daughters: they only should be delivered, and the land should be a desolation.

(Eze14:17)Or [if] I bring the sword upon that land, and say, Sword, go through the land, so that I cut off man and beast from it,

(Eze14:18)and these three men should be in it, [as] I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, they should deliver neither sons nor daughters, but they only themselves should be delivered.

(Eze14:19)Or [if] I send a pestilence into that land, and pour out my fury upon it in blood, to cut off from it man and beast,

(Eze14:20)and Noah, Daniel, and Job should be in it, [as] I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, they should deliver neither son nor daughter: they should [but] deliver their own souls by their righteousness.

(Deu11:26)See, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse:

(Deu11:27)a blessing, if ye obey the commandments of Jehovah your God, which I command you this day;

(Deu11:28)and a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of Jehovah your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods which ye have not known.

(1ki20:35)And a certain man of the sons of the prophets said to another by the word of Jehovah, Smite me, I pray thee. But the man refused to smite him.

(1ki20:36)Then said he to him, Because thou hast not hearkened to the voice of Jehovah, behold, when thou departest from me, the lion will slay thee. And when he had departed from him, the lion found him and slew him.

(Lev10:1)And the sons of Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, took each of them his censer, and put fire in it, and put incense on it, and presented strange fire before Jehovah, which he had not commanded them.

(Lev10:2)And there went out fire from before Jehovah, and devoured them, and they died before Jehovah.

(Gen2:17)but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it; for in the day that thou eatest of it thou shalt certainly die.

(Jam1:15)then lust, having conceived, gives birth to sin; but sin fully completed brings forth death.

(Rom6:23)For the wages of sin [is] death; but the act of favour of God, eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

(Repentance for the forgivenness of sin)

(Luk24:47)and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name to all the nations beginning at Jerusalem.

(Mar1:4)There came John baptising in the wilderness, and preaching [the] baptism of repentance for remission of sins.

(Mar1:5)And there went out to him all the district of Judaea, and all they of Jerusalem, and were baptised by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.

(Luk3:3)And he came into all the district round the Jordan, preaching [the] baptism of repentance for [the] remission of sins,

(Jer36:3)It may be the house of Judah will hear all the evil that I purpose to do unto them, that they may return every man from his evil way, and that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.

(Act3:19)Repent therefore and be converted, for the blotting out of your sins, so that times of refreshing may come from [the] presence of the Lord,

(Act5:31)Him has God exalted by his right hand as leader and saviour, to give repentance to Israel and remission of sins.

(Luk17:3)Take heed to yourselves: if thy brother should sin, rebuke him; and if he should repent, forgive him.

(2co7:10)For grief according to God works repentance to salvation, never to be regretted; but the grief of the world works death.

(Jer18:7)At the moment that I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to break down, and to destroy,

(Jer18:8)if that nation, concerning which I have spoken, turn from their evil, then I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.

(Jer18:9)And at the moment that I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant,

(Jer18:10)if it do evil in my sight, that it hearken not unto my voice, then I will repent of the good wherewith I said I would benefit them.

(Jon3:1)And the word of Jehovah came unto Jonah the second time, saying,

(Jon3:2)Arise, go to Nineveh, the great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I shall bid thee.

(Jon3:3)And Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of Jehovah. Now Nineveh was an exceeding great city of three days' journey.

(Jon3:4)And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown!

(Jon3:5)And the men of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.

(Jon3:6)And the word reached the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and laid his robe from him, and covered himself with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.

(Jon3:7)And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste anything: let them not feed, nor drink water;

(Jon3:8)and let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God; and let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands.

(Jon3:9)Who knoweth but that God will turn and repent, and will turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not?

(Jon3:10)And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil that he had said he would do unto them, and he did [it] not.

(baptism)

(Mat3:11)*I* indeed baptise you with water to repentance, but he that comes after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not fit to bear; *he* shall baptise you with [the] Holy Spirit and fire;

(1pe3:21)which figure also now saves you, [even] baptism, not a putting away of [the] filth of flesh, but [the] demand as before God of a good conscience, by [the] resurrection of Jesus Christ,

(The remission of sin)

(1jo1:6)If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not practise the truth(jo17:17 Johovah's word is truth).

(1jo1:7)But if we walk in the light as *he* is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin.

(Eze18:21)And the wicked, if he turn from all his sins which he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do judgment and justice, he shall certainly live, he shall not die.

(Eze18:22)None of his transgressions which he hath committed shall be remembered against him; in his righteousness which he hath done shall he live.

(Eze18:23)Have I any pleasure at all in the death of the wicked? saith the Lord Jehovah; is it not in his turning from his way, that he may live?

(Eze18:24)And when the righteous turneth from his righteousness and practiseth what is wrong, [and] doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked doeth, shall he live? None of his righteous acts which he hath done shall be remembered: in his unfaithfulness which he hath wrought, and in his sin which he hath sinned, in them shall he die.

(Eze18:25)And ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. Hear then, house of Israel. Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal?

(Eze18:26)When the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and practiseth what is wrong, and dieth for it; in his wrong that he hath done shall he die.

(Eze18:27)And when the wicked turneth from his wickedness which he hath committed, and doeth judgment and justice, he shall keep his soul alive.

(Eze18:28)Because he considereth, and turneth from all his transgressions which he hath committed, he shall certainly live, he shall not die.

(Eze18:29)But the house of Israel say, The way of the Lord is not equal. O house of Israel, are not my ways equal? Is it not your ways that are unequal?

(Eze18:30)Therefore I will judge you, house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord Jehovah. Return ye, and turn from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your snare.

(Eze18:31)Cast away from you all your transgressions wherewith ye have transgressed, and make you a new heart and a new spirit: why then will ye die, house of Israel?

(Eze18:32)For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord Jehovah; therefore turn ye and live.

(Eze33:11)Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

(Eze33:12)And thou, son of man, say unto the children of thy people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression; and as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall thereby in the day that he turneth from his wickedness; neither shall the righteous be able to live thereby in the day that he sinneth.

(Eze33:13)When I say to the righteous that he shall certainly live, and he trusteth to his righteousness and doeth what is wrong, none of his righteous acts shall be remembered; but in his unrighteousness which he hath done, in it shall he die.

(Eze33:14)And when I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt certainly die, and he turneth from his sin, and doeth judgment and justice;

(Eze33:15)if the wicked restore the pledge, give again that he had taken by robbery, walk in the statutes of life, doing nothing that is wrong; he shall certainly live, he shall not die.

(Eze33:16)None of his sins which he hath committed shall be remembered against him: he hath done judgment and justice; he shall certainly live.

(Eze33:17)Yet the children of thy people say, The way of the Lord is not equal: but as for them, their way is not equal.

(Lev4:22)When a prince sinneth and through inadvertence doeth [somewhat against] any of all the commandments of Jehovah his God [in things] which should not be done, and is guilty;

(Lev4:23)if his sin, wherein he hath sinned, come to his knowledge, he shall bring his offering, a buck of the goats, a male without blemish.

(Lev4:24)And he shall lay his hand on the head of the goat, and slaughter it at the place where they slaughter the burnt-offering before Jehovah: it is a sin-offering.

(Lev4:25)And the priest shall take of the blood of the sin-offering with his finger, and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt-offering, and shall pour out its blood at the bottom of the altar of burnt-offering.

(Lev4:26)And he shall burn all its fat on the altar, as the fat of the sacrifice of peace-offering; and the priest shall make atonement for him [to cleanse him] from his sin, and it shall be forgiven him.

(Lev4:27)And if any one of the people of the land sin through inadvertence, that he do [somewhat against] any of the commandments of Jehovah [in things] which should not be done, and be guilty;

(Lev4:28)if his sin, which he hath sinned, come to his knowledge, then he shall bring his offering, a goat, a female without blemish, for his sin which he hath sinned.

(Lev4:29)And he shall lay his hand on the head of the sin-offering, and slaughter the sin-offering at the place of the burnt-offering.

(Lev4:30)And the priest shall take of the blood thereof with his finger, and put [it] on the horns of the altar of burnt-offering, and shall pour out all the blood thereof at the bottom of the altar.

(Lev4:31)And he shall take away all the fat thereof, as the fat is taken away from off the sacrifice of peace-offering; and the priest shall burn it on the altar, for a sweet odour to Jehovah; and the priest shall make atonement for him, and it shall be forgiven him.

(Lev4:32)And if he bring a sheep for his offering for sin, a female without blemish shall he bring it.

(Lev4:33)And he shall lay his hand on the head of the sin-offering, and slaughter it for a sin-offering at the place where they slaughter the burnt-offering.

(Lev4:34)And the priest shall take of the blood of the sin-offering with his finger, and put [it] on the horns of the altar of burnt-offering, and shall pour out all the blood thereof at the bottom of the altar.

(Lev4:35)And he shall take away all the fat thereof, as the fat of the lamb is taken away from the sacrifice of peace-offering; and the priest shall burn them on the altar, with Jehovah's offerings by fire; and the priest shall make atonement for him concerning his sin which he hath sinned, and it shall be forgiven him.
